Has anybody ever brought up the height discepancy between Lucas Mc Cain and his son, Mark?
I was very surprised to learn recently that Johnny Crawford (Mark) was born in March 1946. I would have sworn that he was at least three years younger. That means that Mark always appeared short for his age. Crawford is 12 at the start of the series and 17 at the end of it. At these ages and at every age in between, that makes his character appear small of short for his age.
How likely would that have been in real life, when the father was the towering 6 foot, 5 inch Lucas Mc Cain (Chuck Connors)?
I think thaat Johnny was such a good actor at so young an age, that he probably won the part over other taller acting candidates who would have made for a more logical and better physical matchup between father and son.
