Hi folks. some of you may recognize my screen name as being that of a veteran character actor, John Anderson whom Chuck Connors and "The
Rifleman"'s producers and directors liked to use often him in featured or supporting roles. In an episode that aired this morning on Encore Westerns,
that I believe was titled "The Road Back" or "The Long Road Back", Anderson was the army deserter who had the disfiguring burn mark put on
his left cheek, courtesy of the Cheyennes. Anderson probably appeared in 15 to 20 Rifleman episodes. (I'll have to check that on the Internet Movie Data
Base).
Actualy it was a tough decision between The Andersons as far as my choice of a screen name went. Richard Anderson was also used in at least a dozen Rifleman episodes. He's still around, about 82 years of age and he was born down the New Jersey Shore, not more than 35 miles from where I grew up.
Maybe John's crustiness and orneriness was a little more appealing to me, but he was versatile because he could play sympathetic roles as well.
Maybe since the first of this year I've watched 80 per cent of all Rifleman episodes on Encore Westerns.
The creators of this site have done an excellent job on the "Episode Guide" which I've found very useful.
Well that's my story. I'm glad to be aboard. Good Luck to all Rifleman fans (who show very good taste in their Retro TV watching choices). I'll talk to you all soon. See ya, pardners!
